This clip is a montage combining moving image and still photos of the same locations. The moving image introduces the area, and the stills provide a much more focused view of the same place.
To capture my still imagery, I took photographs of surfaces that were divided in some way: by change in material, color, texture, etc. My moving imagery was created by using the camera's viewfinder to track lines occurring in the natural surroundings: horizons, shadows, changes in surface.
Drift 2 took place on Friday, March 21st 2008, starting at approximately 12:00 noon.
I followed roughly the same path as Drift 1, but used lines in the road to direct me in more detail. The combination of chance decisions on my part, within the constraints of the lines, led me in directions and to places that I probably wouldn't have reached otherwise. I also found myself going in circles much more often than I probably would have otherwise.
